Snake Vs Block

So simple, yet so entertaining. For some reason snakes have been a theme ever since electronic games came to life. Hands up if you remember playing the OG Snake on your tiny Nokia back in the day!  This one is somewhat similar, yet different enough to provide a cool twist. The aim is to keep your snake alive as long as possible, collecting segments that add to its length as you snake (groan-inducing pun intended) your way up the screen. The number on the blocks indicates how segments it’ll cost you to break through them. Sounds easy right? Well, it’s not. On my first try I got SO into it that, the next thing I knew, an hour had passed..

Stack AR

Stack and I go way back. That should say something about just how addictive it can be! I’ve had this app on my phone for a good 2 years and it’s still one of my all-time favorites. It’s Super straight-forward – you drop blocks while trying to keep them as centered as possible on the ones below it, and the less accurate you are, the more the blocks shrink! As they get smaller and smaller, you’ll start panicking because it gets faster and faster! It’s great, really. Not stressful at all!

Ball Blast

There are balls, and you blast them with a canon. That’s basically it. Also, you have to be careful not to get your canon destroyed because, as all things that go up must do – those balls keep coming back down only they get bigger. It’s all very intense and sometimes you forget to breathe! Good luck shutting this app down! It’s almost as if it was created to make it on this list of addictive games. Try it at your own peril!

Cut the Rope

With its cute little main character, Cut the Rope initially seems deceivingly harmless. Don’t be fooled! This game will suck you in like no other (well, except for the others on this list, obviously – ed). The idea is to feed the little monster candy by cutting the rope holding in the candy so that the candy falls directly into his mouth. I’m low-key convinced that the cuteness of the monster is a big factor in just how addictive this game is – you just can’t let the little guy go hungry!

Disclaimer: I may have been playing for too long and gotten unreasonably attached to an animated monster…

Candy Crush

The mother of all addictive mobile games! Candy Crush is by no means new to the mobile game scene, but it has managed to stay on the top 50 list of App store games ever since it launched, and with new games coming out every day that quite the achievement. If you’re not familiar with Candy Crush, the point is to combine 3 or more blocks of the same type of candy to make them disappear with a satisfying pop until your goal for each level is reached. Advance with caution –  it’s WAY too easy to spend hours on this app. No kidding!
