With Ramadan fast approaching; its’s time for us to prepare and what better way to pay homage to our culture than to support local Arab designers who have made it their purpose to keep us looking beautifully modest.
Amal Al Mulla
Let’s start with Amal Al Mulla, a ready-to-wear label that focuses on bridging the gap between luxury clothing and contemporary fashion. The timeless yet innovative designs convey the Bahraini designer’s aesthetic of consistency in contrast, leading the collections to definitive silhouettes that evolve within opposites that attract.
Finding structure in the fluidity, textures in transparencies and details that never seize to surprise are Amal’s go to points.
Anatomi
Next is Anatomi, from the Dubai-based designer Doaa Alghouti, the sister of the renowned influencer Leena Al Ghouti.
Doaa launched Anatomi in 2015 with the vision of creating modest wear with a twist. Anatomi is now fast emerging as a highly functional brand in both the regional and international markets thanks to its versatile fashion.
Bazza Alzouman
We now move to Bazza Alzouman, a Kuwaiti designer who mastered the merge of cultures. Bazza was born in the United States and moved to New York city in 2011 to pursue her passion at Parsons School of Designs and worked alongside Naeem Khan to develop her skills and forge her own path in evening-wear.
By 2014 Bazza moved back to Kuwait to launch her eponymous label and establish her atelier where she aspired to bridge the gap between evening ready-to-wear and couture by adopting advanced construction techniques into the creation of each piece.
Season on season, Alzouman’s understated aesthetic flees from overt opulence in favor of designing collections for a clientele who have an appreciation of ethereal pared down silhouettes.
