Local Faves 4 Ways | Chips Oman

Does it even get more classic than Oman Chips?

Does it even get more classic than Oman Chips? It’s the ultra local fav. To the point of (don’t hate me for saying this) being totally overdone. And yet here we are, still talking about. Because we just can’t get enough 😛

So today I’m celebrating the classic in 4 ways! With two recipes nodding to the past, and the other two to something more current. But trust me, you’ll wanna try them all.

Recipe #1 // Ultra Classic in the Bag

Ingredients:

  • Oman Chips
  • Laban Up
  • Hot Sauce

Steps:

If you’re from these parts, you know. Just grab a pack of Oman Chips, pour in a bit of Laban Up and hot sauce, shake it up and give your mouth the zesty crunchy love it deserves.

Recipe #2 // Classic Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • Oman Chips
  • Bread (any type you like)
  • Cheese
  • Hot Sauce
  • Butter or Mayo (to toast)

Steps:

Another classic that’s easy af. Just layer Oman chips, cheese and hot sauce inside your bread of choice. Then toast it in a sandwich/toastie press or frying pan with some butter or mayo for that perfectly golden crisp. Enjoy with friends or Netflix. Or both.

Recipe #3 // Shawarma Nachos

Ingredients:

  • Oman Chips
  • Shawarma meat
  • Pickles (that come with the shawarma plate)
  • Mozzarella Cheese (shredded)

Steps:

Place your Oman Chips in an oven or microwave-safe bowl. Cover with Shawarma meat, chopped pickles, and finally, shredded cheese. Broil or microwave until cheese is melted. Never go back to regular nachos again.

Recipe #4 // Chicken Strips

Ingredients:

  • Oman Chips (crushed)
  • 500gms Chicken Breast (cut into strips)
  • Laban
  • Hot Sauce
  • 3 Tbps Garlic Powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Flour
  • 3 Eggs (lightly beaten)

Steps:

Start by marinating the chicken. Place the strips in a bowl and cover with laban and a few hits of hot sauce. Cover and marinate in the fridge overnight.

When you’re ready to cook the chicken, preheat your oven to 170°C. Next, mix the flour, garlic powder and salt & pepper in a shallow bowl. In a separate bowl, lightly beat the eggs. And in a third bowl, place your crushed Oman Chips.

Coat the marinated chicken strips, one by one, in the flour mixture, then eggs, and finally, crushed Oman Chips. Place on a lined baking tray and cook for 20-25mins.

Enjoy it with your fav dipping sauce habibi :*
