Buzzwords of 2019 We Are Gonna Learn To Hate

Every year comes and goes with their lot of buzzwords. What do I mean by buzzword? “On Fleek”, “Adulting”, “Slay”; some of the 2018 new words, hashtags that have multiplied like an epidemic. They are fun at first and as the year goes on, we start cringing when we see them and secretly hate the ones who use them. What is in stock for 2019? Experts have already started to scan the tech and travel industries to see where 2019 is going to take us hashtag-wise, and here are their findings:

ZILLENIALS

Millennials are in their 30’s, brands have done everything they could to sell to them including numerous studies to get to know the generation and if you work in marketing, you have probably been tasked to come up with a millennials plan at some point…but millennials are ageing…This year, it will be all about zillennials also known as Gen Z, our little brothers & sisters born between mid – 1990’s to mid 2000’s.

NANO INFLUENCERS

2017 was about influencers, 2018 was about micro influencers, 2019 will be the year of nano influencers. They have1,000-5,000 followers, regular people you may say? Agencies LOVE them.

MICROGAPPING

The millennial version of a weekend gateway or short break…#microgapping is so much cooler…Get ready to see a lot of microgapping tips right, left, and center this year.

PAINMOON

You know the honeymoon & the babymoon, you will now get to know the “painmoon”.  The painmoon as you have guessed, is the break people take after they have been through a painful event and need a healing break.

ZEN-DO

In a similar way that painmoon is the new baby moon, here comes the zen-do the yoga-filled, relaxing hen-do.

JOMO

JOMO is the new FOMO. No more fear of missing out, it’s going to be all about joy of missing out. You know when you stay home, or simply just decide to do what makes you happy and stop forcing yourself to attend every single event you are invited or saying yes to everything? If the word itself can make quite a few of us cringe, I have to admit I am loving the concept!
