Early Childhood

Princess Ameerah Al Taweel was born November 6th 1983 into a middle-class family. At a young age she dreamed of becoming a heart surgeon but instead, she took on the title of Princess when at 18 she married Saudi billionaire Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal.

Life of a Princess

She used her new-found status and visibility to advocate for issues of women’s civil rights and empowerment in Saudi. Wishing to be among the first women on Saudi roads, she has often called for women’s right to drive. However, her aspirations for women in her country go well beyond driving which she considers only a symbolic right. During her time as wife of Prince Al Waleed, she did not wear a Abaya in public. This was a HUGE, albeit symbolic, step for Saudi women at the time (around 2011).

Princess Ameerah undoubtedly walks the talk. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of New Haven and holds a Business Administration degree – hoping to become a role model for women in Saudi and show that independent, non-married or divorced women can achieve great things.

Businesswoman & Humanitarian

Princess Ameerah Al Taweel

Without surprise, her choice of using her media appearances to advance such issues naturally led to tensions. Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal’s brother had warned the couple that Princess Ameerah’s media presence needed to be controlled or she would be punished for it. Among other reasons, this was a cause for their divorce.

Nevertheless, following the Princess’s split from the Prince, her involvement in worldwide NGO’s and philanthropy work only increased. She continues to be a vice-chairwomen and head of the executive committee for the Al Waleed Bin Talal Foundation, where she has led projects in Burkina Faso, Pakistan, and Somalia. The Princess also serves as Chairwoman and CEO for Time Entertainment. A company which showcases talents form the MENA region and creates local work opportunities for youth empowerment.

Additionally, Princess Ameerah Al Taweel is the chairwoman and co-founder of Tasamy. An entity funding and staring social initiatives to support Arab youth in creating sustainable businesses for their communities.

Role Model

In other words, the Princess does it all! There is absolutely no doubt that she is a role model for all girls in the region. She clearly teaches them independence, determination, the value of hard work, and the importance of giving back to your community. In her own words, Princess Ameerah seeks evolution, not revolution.

New Love

In October 2018, she married Emirati Billionaire Khalifa bin Butti al Muhairi in an exclusive ceremony in Paris. We could wish Princess Ameerah Al Taweel nothing more than the best of luck and can’t be more excited to see what she does next!
