Searching for seashells can add an extra bit of fun to any already amazing day at the beach. Shelling is usually best in the early morning hours as a general rule. There’s no better way to start your day than watching the sun rise over the water as you comb the sand for shells!
Here are some of the best beaches In The UAE For Collecting Seashells!
1. Jumeirah Public Beach
Open from 7am until 11-11:30 pm, this beach offers warm clear waters, soft pristine sand, and great views of Dubai’s iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel . While there are plenty of water sports and nearby restaurants to enjoy at this beach, it is also a shell hunter’s paradise! Just after the tides change is a good time to walk the shoreline looking for shells. This beach is popular, so the earlier you can arrive the better to give you the best chance at finding top-notch sea-shells!
2. Kite Beach
As the name implies, this beach is popular with kite surfers. Runners also praise its soft, almost springy, walkways and it’s common to see yoga enthusiasts utilizing the area. This beach tends to be populated more by locals than tourists when compared to Jumeirah Beach. There are sunbeds to rent if you feel like lounging. But, before you laze, walk the shoreline and do some shell hunting to find some lovely small to medium sized shells!
3. Ajman Beach
Beloved by locals and tourists alike for its calm waters for swimming and the cleanliness of the sands, this beach is an excellent choice for shell searching. The shells here tend to be very small and delicate, but no less beautiful for their size! Spend a morning or afternoon sitting at the shoreline with the water lapping at your toes as you sift through the powdery sand for seashells.
4. Umm Al Qwain Beach
This relatively quiet beach located about an hour from Dubai is visited primarily for camping overnight! Many visitors can’t help but mention the beauty of the sunsets from this beach. There is also a decent amount of shelling to be found in the early morning hours and you might just see crabs scuttling about the beach or lounging in the shallow waters.
5. Kalba Corniche Park
This beach located in Fujairah has a lot of charm. The area is said to be like taking a step back in time (in a good way!) . The beach itself has very calm waters with hardly any waves. Barbecuing and camping are options. The shells here are small, but beautiful and relatively easy to find no matter what time of day. If you’re looking for a rather scenic drive to a beach outside of Dubai, this is an excellent choice!
